COURSE OVERVIEW
Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs) are among the most common pieces of machinery on worksites today, giving workers the ability to safely reach heights that would otherwise be inaccessible. With an average of 26 deaths per year attributed to MEWP-related accidents, understanding how to operate this equipment safely isn’t just good practice — it’s essential. In this course, we’ll examine the three main types of MEWPs, the hazards associated with working at heights, and the precautions and best practices that keep operators and those around them safe.
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
• Name the main types of MEWPs and know when to use them
• Understand the difference between indoor and outdoor use of certain MEWPs
• Identify the hazards associated with MEWPs
• Plan for successful use of equipment on the worksite
• Describe the main precautions that should be taken when using MEWPs

• Types of MEWPs: Scissor Lifts, Boom Lifts, and Telehandlers
• Indoor vs. Outdoor MEWP Applications
• Common Hazards and Accidents (Tip-Overs, Falls, Falling Objects, Overhead Hazards, Uneven Surfaces, Weather)
• Pre-Operational Equipment Inspections
• Workplace Inspections
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Proper Training and Site-Specific Requirements
• Lock Out, Tag Out (LOTO) Procedures
ONLINE COURSE DURATION
This course is approximately 60 minutes long.
PASS MARK
The pass mark for this course is 80%. Learners can make 3 attempts to pass the course before it must be reassigned.
CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION
Upon successful completion of this course, learners will receive a certificate of completion.
