COURSE OVERVIEW
Carbon monoxide is one of the most dangerous hazards you can encounter at work. Hazards that we can see, hear and sense can be easier to protect yourself from, but with carbon monoxide, by the time most people realize something is wrong, they may already be too impaired to help themselves. By the end of this course, you should be able to:
• Define carbon monoxide and explain how it forms
• Describe how carbon monoxide harms the body
• Recognize the symptoms of carbon monoxide exposure
• Identify common workplace sources of carbon monoxide
• Explain how carbon monoxide is detected and monitored
• List the main ways to prevent and control exposure
• Describe how to respond safely to a suspected exposure

• What carbon monoxide is and how it is produced
• How carbon monoxide affects the body
• The symptoms of carbon monoxide exposure
• Where carbon monoxide is found in the workplace
• How carbon monoxide is measured and detected
• How to prevent and control the hazard
• What to do in a carbon monoxide emergency
• The roles and responsibilities of employers and workers
ONLINE COURSE DURATION
This course is approximately 30 minutes long.
PASS MARK
The pass mark for this course is 80%. Learners can make 3 attempts to pass the course before it must be reassigned.
CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION
Upon successful completion of this course, learners will receive a certificate of completion.
