COURSE OVERVIEW
Carry deck cranes are compact, powerful machines built to move heavy loads through tight indoor and industrial spaces, turning up in refineries, plants, warehouses, shipyards, and construction sites where larger cranes simply cannot fit. Here’s the part that matters most: the people most often hurt or killed around these cranes are the workers nearby, not the operators. That’s why everyone on site needs to understand the risks. This course focuses on keeping you safe when you work around a carry deck crane, showing you how to recognize the hazards, stay out of harm’s way, and know when to speak up.
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
• Describe what a carry deck crane is and recognize its main parts
• Explain why these cranes can tip over
• Identify the main hazards to workers near a carry deck crane
• Recognize a crane’s swing radius, fall zone, and exclusion zone
• List the safe work practices for working near an operating crane
• Recognize the roles and signals involved in a lift
• Explain what to do if you see an unsafe condition

The pass mark for this course is 80%. Learners can make 3 attempts to pass the course before it must be reassigned.
