COURSE OVERVIEW
Every year, workers across Canada are seriously injured or killed while working in confined spaces. These environments may look harmless from the outside, but they can hide deadly hazards such as oxygen deficiency, toxic gases, or engulfment risks. Understanding these dangers—and knowing how to control them—is critical for anyone who works in or around confined spaces. This online Confined Space Safety course provides a comprehensive overview of safe work practices, responsibilities, and emergency procedures for confined space entry as outlined in the Canadian Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
Participants will learn how to identify a confined space, recognize the hazards present, and apply appropriate control measures before and during entry. The course also highlights the importance of communication, teamwork, and preparation—key factors that save lives during confined space operations. Learners will explore the specific roles and duties of each team member involved in confined space work, including the employer, entry supervisor, attendant, and entrant. The course also explains how to complete and use a confined space entry permit, perform atmospheric testing, and select proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
Finally, the course emphasizes emergency preparedness by covering self-rescue, non-entry rescue, and entry rescue procedures. By the end, participants will understand how to stay compliant and build a culture of safety and accountability on every confined space job.

PASS MARK
A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to pass this course. Participants are able to be repeat the test three times in efforts to achieve the pass mark.
