OVERVIEW: 

safety mom online courseThere is a growing awareness of alcohol and drug addiction in our workforce. The seriousness of the “fit-for-work” issues are explored. The personal responsibilities of the employee as it relates to ensuring health and safety in the work environment is underlined. Impaired persons can amplify the dangers at a workplace, particularly in an industrial environment. As a result, serious attention must be focused on ensuring that workers are not impaired in this high risk environment. Occupational Health and Safety Legislation has been Involved in legislation surrounding employees who can expose other workers

 

To danger,  due to a worker’s alcohol or drug abuse. A large number of injuries, incidents and fatalities are due to workers who are impaired while attempting to perform their jobs. While the employer has the key responsibility to ensure that the relevant OH&S laws are followed, it is still the duty of both worker and employer to comply with the law

 

WHO WILL BENEFIT: 

Employees with a drug and alcohol problem will be exposed to information thatexplains how their  impairment can harm themselves and others around them. Workers can learn to identify another person’s impairment and report it. Employers will understand their duties for the Alcohol and Drug Work Standards and the legalities governing “fit-for-work” policies.

LENGTH OF TIME: 

30 minutes approximately

CERTIFICATION: 

A mark of 80% is required to achieve the certificate of completion. Participants can repeat the course twice  to achieve a pass mark. Once the program is successfully completed, the certificate of completion will be available to download and print.
