We go beyond the basics. This course dives deep into the attitudes, habits, and split-second decisions that separate proactive, safe drivers from those at risk. You’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of how to anticipate hazards, respond calmly to emergencies, and take complete control of your safety on the road.
COURSE TOPICS

ONLINE COURSE DURATION
6.5 hours (online, self-paced)
PASS REQUIREMENT
Score 80% or higher on the final exam. (Up to two attempts are provided).
CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION
Participants who successfully pass will receive an Alberta Transportation-recognized Notice of Driver Education Course Completion from AMA. Take this to any Alberta registry agent to have up to three demerit points removed from your driving record.
Alberta license holders can visit any Alberta registries to get up to three demerit points removed from their driving record.
Licenced outside Alberta? Contact your home province or territory to confirm whether this course qualifies for demerit reduction.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- If your licence is currently suspended or you have a pending suspension, you must complete your suspension period before your demerit reduction will take effect. The course is still worth taking now – your certificate will be ready and waiting when your suspension ends.
- If you hold an out-of-province licence, demerit reduction may not apply – but the value of this course does. AMA’s driver education helps you build real skills, drive with confidence, and could even save you money on insurance.
