COURSE OVERVIEW

Sun exposure is the leading cause of skin cancer in Canada and outdoor workers are 2.5 to 3.5 times more likely to develop cancer than indoor workers. WorkSafeBC regulations require that all employees working outdoors be aware of the risks and hazards associated with ultraviolet radiation. As outdoor work increases during the summer months, this course presents a current review of what sun safety is; what the hazards of sun exposure truly are; and how to keep yourself safe while working outside. 

COURSE TOPICS

This four-module course will arm outside workers with the knowledge to identify the signs and symptoms of heat stress and its effects on the body; myths and facts about the sun; and the most important methods of protection.

ONLINE COURSE DURATION

Approximately 20 minutes

PASS MARK

Verification of competency will be determined through the completion of knowledge checks and a final quiz.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

Upon completion of this online course, a certificate of completion will be available for download and printing.
