COURSE OVERVIEW
Concrete and masonry work carries hazards that rarely announce themselves until the damage is done. Wet concrete can cause deep chemical burns before a worker feels anything. Silica dust scars lungs silently over years, leading to incurable disease. Formwork and shoring can look solid right up until they collapse under a fresh pour. Workers who don’t recognize these risks early are the ones who get hurt, and the costs land on everyone: lost time, serious injury, and liability for the employer. This course gives concrete and masonry workers the knowledge to spot these hazards before they cause harm, apply the right controls, and know when to stop and get a competent person involved.
In this course we’ll cover:
- The rules and responsibilities that keep concrete and masonry sites safe
- The chemical and skin hazards of wet concrete, mortar, and lime
- Silica dust, the lung disease it causes, and how to control it
- Formwork, falsework, and shoring, and why they can fail
- Rebar, concrete pumps, and other equipment hazards
- Masonry work, manual handling, and protecting your back
- Falls, scaffolds, and working at height
- The personal protective equipment that keeps you safe

ONLINE COURSE DURATION
This course is approximately 60 minutes long.
PASS MARK
The pass mark for this course is 80%. Learners can make 3 attempts to pass the course before it must be reassigned.
CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION
Upon successful completion of this course, learners will receive a certificate of completion.
